FADO – Finding Assistance Delivering Outreach

The project:

FADO is a theatre-based initiative against gender-based violence, funded by the Erasmus Plus program of the European Union. It uses theatre to support victims, raise awareness, and foster social change. Through workshops, performances, and digital tools, it helps individuals regain confidence and become active citizens. Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is a severe human rights violation affecting people of all ages and social backgrounds, with an even greater impact on vulnerable groups such as migrants, individuals with disabilities, and LGBTQIA+ communities. According to an EU survey (2020-2024), one in three women has experienced domestic, workplace, or public violenceFADO seeks to empower victims of GBV by using theatre as a transformative tool for self-determination and healing. Through theatrical techniques, they are encouraged to share their experiences, raise awareness within their communities, and reclaim their voices. GBV victims be equipped with facilitation skills, enabling them to guide and support other people suffering from GBV through the FADO process.  This approach reinforces mutual empowerment, resilience, and collective strength.
