GREEN SESAME: Promoting Pro-Environmental Behavior in Schools
Connection with nature has a significant impact on the psychological well-being and cognitive development of children and adolescents, improving mood, reducing stress, and enhancing social relationships. Encouraging contact with nature is essential for building resilience and preventing behavioral problems.
The GREEN SESAME project offers an innovative adaptation of School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SW-PBS) to promote pro-environmental behaviors among students, fostering responsible and sustainable interaction with the environment.
The project includes:
- Cultural analysis: identifying cultural, personal, and social factors that influence pro-environmental behavior in partner countries.
- Development of digital and gamified SW-PBS: designing tiered educational activities, from general awareness to targeted interventions for students with more challenging behaviors, through an app and webAPP.
- Teacher training: specialized courses to equip teachers with the skills to implement the program effectively, taking into account cultural differences.
- Piloting and evaluation: testing the impact of the program on pro-environmental behavior, nature contact, and the reduction of externalizing behavioral problems among students.
GREEN SESAME combines digital innovation and sustainable pedagogy to nurture a new generation of environmentally conscious and responsible students.
